Equipped with a high-performance LiDAR module and built-in gyroscope, LIVE AIR 4 SMART integrates AI-based virtual learning technology to intelligently record and learn focus paths during shooting. Using this data, the system can simulate and predict focus within a 12ยฐ tracking field of viewโenabling virtual autofocus performance at distances up to 50 meters. This ensures smoother and more stable focus transitions, even with fast-moving subjects.

Once the object moves out of the scanning range, the AI's virtual 12-degree field of view will quickly predict and lock onto the focus, preventing sudden drastic changes in focus that could damage the image.

When the subject exceeds the effective scanning range, the motor intelligently calculates based on the movement speed and autofocus behavior it learned during previous autofocus operations (such as movement speeds and focus responses for distances like 0โ5m, 5โ10m, 10โ15m, and 15โ20m). Using this data, the system can virtually predict the subject's movement speed and autofocus requirements between the point where the subject exceeds the scanning limit and up to 50 meters, enabling AI-driven virtual autofocus to reach a distance of 50 meters.

The dual LiDAR system consists of a short-range and a long-range module. The short-range LiDAR projects up to 4,096 depth points to deliver high-density, highly accurate scanning for nearby subjects. The long-range module (projecting XXX points*) uses directional scanning to lock onto distant targets, extending autofocus capabilities to far-field scenarios. Within its effective range, the system provides real-time, precise distance measurements to drive lens movements, enabling fast and reliable autofocus performance. No complex wiring. No tedious setup. Just a few simple steps and you're ready to focus with easeโfreeing you to stay in the creative flow and capture sharper, more compelling images. *Note: Replace "XXX" with the actual number of depth points once confirmed.

In Hybrid Mode, both the short-range and long-range LiDAR modules work together:When the subject is within 5 meters, the system prioritizes data from the short-range LiDAR for precise measurement. Once the subject moves beyond that range, the long-range LiDAR seamlessly takes overโmaintaining stable and accurate autofocus across varying distances.
Narrow-Beam Focusing Mode uses only the long-range LiDAR for distance measurement and autofocus, reducing power consumption. Its key advantage: regardless of subject distance or complex environments with multiple nearby objects, you only need to align the LiDAR beam with the intended subject (e.g., when the motor is mounted directly below the lens, the beam aligns just below the monitorโs crosshair) to achieve accurate focus lock. This mode effectively prevents focus shift caused by multi-target interference, making it ideal for capturing small objects or scenes that demand high-precision focusing.

When the MOTOR SMART is powered via USB-C and the battery level remains above 95%, the system will automatically enter Double Power mode. In this mode, the LiDAR ranging refresh rate can reach up to 960Hz, and the motor's peak instantaneous torque can reach 1.2Nm, ensuring frame-by-frame focusing as long as the LiDAR detects a subjectโevery frame remains sharp and clear. (As long as the USB-C power supply remains connected, the Double Power mode can be sustained for extended periods. This mode requires the motor to operate in the high-speed focus gear.)

It is possible to configure the autofocus logic within the short-range LiDAR scanning range by connecting a control handwheel, allowing for either foreground focus lock or background focus lock.

The LiDAR motor on the LIVE AIR 4 SMART is more than just a follow focusโit's also a rangefinder and controller. You can mount the LiDAR motor anywhere, adjust its angle, use its ranging function independently, and connect it via Bluetooth to older Bluetooth motors or the PD4-HT controller to drive other motors for autofocus.

At its core, the LIVE AIR 4 SMART is a powerful yet easy-to-use wireless focus system. When LiDAR autofocus isnโt needed, it supports manual wireless control with high torque and ultra-low latencyโgiving you a hands-on, traditional shooting feel.
Open Data Protocol
The upgraded MOTOR SMART features a USB-C port for both power and data transmission. With SDK support, control access and LiDAR data are open to third-party systemsโideal for integration with robotics, arms, and other large-scale mobile rigs.
